About the Episode

EPISODE SUMMARY:

In this episode, Brett Marie/Mat Treiber joins me to talk about his fabulous debut novel, ‘The Upsetter Blog’. Author John Lingan said of the novel, “ ‘The Upsetter Blog’ takes us back to the turn of the century, when the Internet was still a wilderness and ‘new media’ had not yet upended cultural coverage. [Brett Marie’s] finely drawn characters look to rock and roll for redemption, fame, love, and intimacy, caught between old ideas of stardom and new possibilities of communication. A roaring road-novel debut.”

Brett and I talk about the backstory behind the writing of his novel; working with his wife, singer-songwriter musician and writer, Roxanne Fontana; how Anton Newcombe inspired his main character; Gram Parsons’ room at the Joshua Tree Inn; and so much more.
